Accessibility Policy

1. Our Commitment

JR Stone Elite is committed to ensuring equal access and participation for people with disabilities. We are committed to treating people with disabilities in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration, and we are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner. We will do so by removing and preventing barriers to accessibility and by meeting our accessibility requirements under Ontario's accessibility laws, including the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code.

2. Accessibility Standards for Customer Service

2.1 Communication

We communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability. We train our staff to communicate with customers with various types of disabilities and will work with individuals to determine the most effective method of communication based on their needs.

2.2 Telephone Services

We are committed to providing accessible telephone services to our customers. Our staff are trained to communicate with customers over the telephone in clear and plain language and to speak clearly and slowly. We offer to communicate with customers by email, text message, or other methods if telephone communication is not suitable.

2.3 Assistive Devices

We welcome people with disabilities who use assistive devices to access our services. Our staff are trained to be familiar with various assistive devices that may be used by customers with disabilities while accessing our goods and services at our Toronto location and showrooms.

2.4 Service Animals

We welcome service animals on the parts of our premises that are open to the public and other third parties. A person with a disability who is accompanied by a service animal will be allowed to enter our premises with the animal and to keep the animal with them at all times, including our showroom facilities and office locations in Toronto.

2.5 Support Persons

A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to enter our premises with their support person. At no time will a person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person be prevented from having access to their support person while on our premises. We will waive any admission fees that may apply for support persons.

3. Information and Communications

3.1 Website Accessibility

We are committed to making our website accessible and aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level AA. Our website features:

  • Clear and consistent navigation structure
  • Text alternatives for non-text content
  • Readable and understandable content
  • Keyboard navigation support
  • Sufficient color contrast ratios
  • Resizable text without loss of functionality

3.2 Accessible Formats

Upon request, we will provide information about our products, services, and facilities in accessible formats or with communication supports. We will consult with the person making the request to determine the suitability of the format or communication support. We will provide the accessible format or communication support in a timely manner and at no additional cost.

4. Employment Practices

JR Stone Elite is committed to fair and accessible employment practices. We notify employees, potential employees, and the public that accommodations are available during the recruitment and assessment processes and when people are hired. We will consult with applicants and employees who request accommodation and provide or arrange for suitable accommodation.

5. Physical Accessibility

5.1 Our Facilities

Our showroom and office facilities at Unit 2 - 1300 Alness Street, Toronto, Ontario are designed to be accessible. We provide:

  • Accessible parking spaces near the entrance
  • Accessible entrance and pathways
  • Accessible washroom facilities
  • Clear signage throughout the facility
  • Wide aisles for wheelchair access in showrooms

5.2 Service Disruptions

In the event of planned or unexpected disruptions to services or facilities for customers with disabilities, we will provide notice of the disruption. Notice will include information about the reason for the disruption, its anticipated duration, and a description of alternative facilities or services, if available. Notice will be placed on our website and at affected facility entrances.

6. Training

JR Stone Elite provides accessibility training to all employees, contractors, volunteers, and others who deal with the public or other third parties on our behalf. Training includes:

  • An overview of the AODA and requirements of the customer service standard
  • How to interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities
  • How to interact with people with disabilities who use assistive devices or require a service animal or support person
  • What to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty accessing our services

Training is provided to new employees during orientation and on an ongoing basis when changes are made to accessibility policies, practices, and procedures.

7. Feedback Process

We welcome feedback on how we provide services to people with disabilities. Customers can provide feedback in the following ways:

All feedback will be reviewed and addressed promptly. Customers can expect a response within 10 business days. We will provide responses in accessible formats upon request.

8. Modifications to This Policy

We are committed to developing customer service policies that respect and promote the dignity and independence of people with disabilities. Therefore, no changes will be made to this policy before considering the impact on people with disabilities. Any policy that does not respect and promote the dignity and independence of people with disabilities will be modified or removed.
